New Zealand S.P.C.A. Directors Dream
In the month of Dec. 2001 I received a phone call from Ro Williams,
the director of the S.P.C.A in Wellington, New Zealand. She informed
me that she read one of my books (Jelly Bean verses Dr. Jekyll & Mr.
Hyde) out of the Home
Study Course that she had authorized purchased for her supervisor
Sonia Frost.
Ro explained that what she read in my book caused her to do some research
to find out if the increasing dog behaviour problems in New Zealand
have the same basic foundation as to what is causing the dog problems
and aggressive dog attacks in the United States.
Before we could continue our conversation someone interrupted her
and she said she would get back to me the next day. To make sure
that I would be available for her call I cleared my schedule and
waited... but the call never came.
However the following day I did receive her fax detailing what was "needed
to reach those who are currently spreading the wrong message about
dog training, i.e. behaviour."
A few days after I received her fax Ro became ill and it was necessary
for her to take time off from work.
However her illness did not deter Ro from her dream of providing a
solution for New Zealand's increasing dog problems and she continued
to work from her home. From Jan. 2002 through April we worked together,
by fax and telephone, on her ideas for a solution.
The result was the creation of a NATIONAL EDUCATION CAMPAIGN.
Ro informed me that since my visit in 1994 the Wellington S.P.C.A
had grown with a lot of supporters and she knew of some who would
financially sponsor our campaign.
We were planning on my arrival in Auckland in the beginning of June
to start with a media blitz informing the general public regarding
the Public Presentations.
Her dream (and mine) was to have New Zealand recognized as the Beacon
of Light for Humanity on a global level (satelliting to 88
other countries). However Ro's dream and her light was extinguished
when she passed away in May 2002.
