The issues you raised at our meeting and some of the points made in the book have been very useful in the continuing debate on banning any particular breed.
Officials continue to examine the findings of a Select Committee inquiry into dog control policy, and the thrust of the report was on education and owner responsibility, with recommendations on some incentives, sanctions for non-performance, and generally tighter dog control laws. It is accepted that the attitude of the owner plays a greater influence on the dogs behavior than does it breed, and accordingly the calls for bans are unlikely to succeed.
